A home is more than four walls and a roof. It’s an anchor in a world of uncertainties. A place where you can exhale. For Ronnie, Ed and Charles, their new home meant inevitable change and unfamiliar surroundings, but they liked it. They waved at a neighbor driving by and relaxed on their front porch rockers as they waited for dinner. They were already content.

In early August, a few of enCircle’s Direct Support Professionals made sure the move happened seamlessly while the guys were at Day Support. They did not leave the city of Lynchburg, but moved about 20 minutes from their old house, which needed repairs. Now, it’s a fresh start on a beautiful property with a back deck overlooking a large tree-lined yard.

"The gentlemen are excited about their space and would love to have people come visit us," said Stormie Shelton, a direct support professional for enCircle’s group homes.

Stormie hand-painted a sign that hangs on the front porch that says, "Welcome Friends," an authentic statement for this group of guys. They light up when a visitor stops by and they are eager to show off their new space. Although some boxes are still stacked and a few walls are still bare, their hearts are fully "moved in" and happy to be home.
